This is Chumby One being modified and put into a new case to make it more sleek and elegant looking!
I'm modifying it to be put into an Ipod Touch box.
If you don't know what a Chumby is then its basicly a small web enabled alarmclock. They made them a while ago and the name is really of the software but the software creators made a few devices to sell to show off the new software they made... Sadly there software didn't go as planned so they stopped supporting the software... You can read more about it here: http://www.chumby.com/
I also may be trying to re-purpose to do something else more interesting since it's basically a mini Linux computer!
Here are the pics:
The top of the case:
The bottom of the case (yes those are aircraft bolts!):
Where I soldered some jumpers moving the old wifi usb lines to the 'Chumbilical' cord on the back of the board since the old wifi location is no longer hooked up (yes there's also some broken component on the board but only its outer shell is broken so the board still functions):
Where I soldered on a new usb port on the back of the board where it accually states 'Wifi' under were I put the plug so I guess they originally meant to put it there but moved it to a daughter board... But I put it on there that way to save a BUNCH of space! (Also that row of contacts is the 'Chumbilical'):
Another photo of the wifi stick compactly put up against the board's back (I put double side adhesive foam tape in between them to keep the two from touching and shorting anything out!):
The volume rotatory encoder which I soldered wires onto to extend the plug on it:
